Snake plant [Sansevieria trifasciata] or mother-in-law's tongue – is a type succulent that belongs to asparagus family AND it originated from tropical West Africa and Northern Asia, the name "snake Plant", was coined from its appearance long pointed patterned leaves that are reminiscent of a snake.[]

Also, the snake plants species are great indoor plants, that are very easy to plant and care for because,  it does not need much attention, with little or no experience, you can successfully grow snake plant in your garden.
